  • Genesis Power released Virtua Fighter for the 32X and also the Game Genie rom for the Genesis ! SMS Power released GP World for the SG1000... I haven't mirrored that one yet but I updated my mirror anyway with the 2 last released (before this one).

    Sunday, August 29, 1999

  • Today I found out that the Pokémon Yellow (australian version, in ENGLISH) GBC rom was released... and a generous russian guy (you know who you are ! I'm sorry but you were identified as "unknown" by Hotmail... and next time please warn me before sending anything) emailed it to me, with a fix that was also released today. You can now download both rom and fix from our Weekly ROMs section.

  • Marat released Virtual GameBoy 1.6... here's what's new on the most popular Windows GB/GBC emulator: (source: EmuViews)
    - Now refreshing SGB frame when new characters are loaded.
    - Fixed video and other timings relative to the CGB CPU speed.
    - Fixed recognition of CGB cartridges (Super Mario Brothers DX, etc.).
    - Fixed sprite drawing code.
    - Changed processing of pending interrupts in CPU emulation.
    - CGB DMA now ends by putting FFh into transfer length register.
    - Made CGB draw background if only sprites are enabled.
    - Fixed display blanking to fill display with correctly sized values.
    - Added source to get Bung Xchanger to the documentation.
    - Registration service for VGB-WIndows has been changed to DigiBuy.
    - Fixed current directory name in VGB-Windows.
    - Added *.GBC pattern to VGB-Windows file requester.
    - Changed video state changes (Final Fantasy Legends work again).
    - State file changed to v.2 due to CPU state changes.
    - Sound in VGB-Unix fixed to work on some buggy OSS versions.
    - VGB-Unix runs in a resizable window now.
    - Fixed IPC key allocation bug in VGB-Unix.
    - VGB-Windows uses multimedia timer to sync screen refresh.

  • Go visit the Hat Trick Hero emulation page if you're another fan of that game (other than that site's webmaster).

  • Syncronism (is this written correctly ?) is what just happened on IRC... I was joking yellin' "g1mm3 r0mZ" all around with colors and stuff... and then FURY told the ppl on IRC that Pleasure Goal (NeoGeo) has been dumped (RS did it) ! You can start waiting for this one to be posted at GeoShock someday.

  • Weekly ROMs updated... highlight on the 2 mirrors I added for Nintendo Power Tamagotchi Town (SNES)... and Revelations - The Demon Slayer, a 31337 role-playing game for the GameBoy Color.

  • BouKiChi is on drugs probably. MGX 0.10 is out already and according to what Atila said it now features SG-1000 emulation.

  • ... and I thought that Power Lode Runner was the SNES's last breath...
    Fortunately I was wrong. Some months ago Bandai made this Nintendo Power game called Tamagotchi Town... and it seems really cool (although I know some of you hate tamagotchi-related stuff). At least it's a proof that the SNES hasn't died yet. You can get that rom at Badge's Lighthouse. Thanks to Badge (again) for the news.

  • On the SNES front we have a 100% dump of Street Fighter Alpha 2 which is provided by SNES Redump 2000. (source: Badge)

  • Genesis Power released WWF Raw for the 32X and SMS Power released Wonderboy in Monsterworld (2 versions including a beta), which I can't download, therefore I can't update my mirror :(

  • MGX 0.09 is out... wtf is new anyway ?

  • On a non-emulation related note, WinAMP 2.50 is out.

  • Genesis Power released Phantasy Star 3 in portuguese today and SMS Power released Ultimate Soccer which you can also get from my mirror. (oh well, this is really getting repetitive... I wish all repetitions were like this one)
    Another site that's been releasing romsets pretty often is J-ROM.

  • I missed Z26 1.34 (bugfix !) and MGX 0.07 and maybe a few other emulator releases.

  • SMS Power released 3 new titles and I'm downloading them right now so I can mirror them later. And "k-a-!-t-s-r-t-w-e-m-o-a-s-!" is the 3rd joke by Zoop in less than a week... you can guess what that means on MABOL :P

I'll update again telling you where to get the source, and the binary (when it's out). (sources: too many to list)

  • After seeing this thing... I realized that even (some of) the japanese people (who are considered to be very intelligent (this is worldwide)) make some... err... small mistakes when it comes to the English language :P Thanks to lugnut for the link. (ME AM JAPAN !) (AND ME AM BRASIL TOO !)

  • Vertigo 2099 Genesis Pack #33 is out. That's all I say for now, expect a mirror (one is needed because Xoom sucks and I don't wanna help killing the account it's in) of it here (and a list of the contents, too) here soon. *** UPDATE: the pack contains the dumps of Shadow Dancer (pirate cart), FIFA International Soccer and Street Fighter II Special Champion Edition (yeah, all redumps... cartridges donated by P-Strife and dumped by Opoth. The mirror for vt-gen33.zip is on the way)

  • "(...) sorry... lots of lamers were apparently taking the NGPC releases and claiming they released them (...)"
    After seeing this post at vWorld, I must say that I'm even more disappointed with a supposed scene. (Damn emulamers, look at what you did)

  • CBT released an english-portuguese translation patch for FlashBack (SNES). Go get it if you're interested.

  • SMS Power keeps releasing and releasing... if it weren't for EmuX I'd update my mirror faster. And Genesis Power released another version of Knuckles Chaotix.

  • FCE Ultra 0.16 is out. Biggest news on this release are new mappers and improved sound. (source: ZD)

  • So... the mysterious 'ultra-fast' N64 emulator was initially a modified version of TRWin but kept changing (and got even faster)... so go check out the new TRWin ! (source: RetroGames)(this 'source' thingy seems nice :P)

  • Two things I hate when the subject is emulation sites...
    1) Sites that try their hardest to keep their own emulators section alive while completely forgetting the official emulators' sites;
    2) Sites that insist on copying other sites' good ideas (such as the name, 'special' features, etc.)
    Unfortunately there are a few sites (a few that I noticed) doing this. And this 'a few' keeps increasing...

    Thursday, August 12, 1999

  • One of the greatest 32X games, Knuckles Chaotix, has been released at Genesis Power !

  • Fx3 has just told me that he released RockNES 0.95 ! Here's what's new:
    - Added a new blitter (enabled by default). Games should work at full speed in a P166 with frameskip 1, with *VESA enabled* only. To use the old one, use `-oldblit' option;
    - Minor fix for PPU scrolling (sync fixed, Karateka works fine!);
    - Fixed NES movies (file format, recording and playing);
    - Added mapper #151 loading for iNes format;
    - Fixed mapper #15 loading, and a minor bug out;
    - Fixed mapper #99 loading (VS Unisystem iNes format);
    - For VS Unisystem images in iNes format, VS SMB palette will be used, instead of default NES palette;
    - Key [`] (coins) always enabled to work with VS Unisystem in iNes format;
    - Fixed a long standing problem of missing tiles with some games, like MMC1 and Mapper #15 (like Mapper#1 instead of #0 in the header);
    - Fixed mapper #0 loading;
    - Fixed mapper #1 (now using 1 register, instead of 4);
    - Joypad 1 engine is using 0.93 way again
    - Fixed problem of soundcard setup when sound would be disabled (-nosound);
    - Added a new palette (iNes style, use -pal 5 to try);
    - Fixed missing credits on startup;
    - Help/version display fixed (oops!);
    - Removed SDD warnings (now it's true :-));
    - Using Allegro 3.9.25 WIP;
    - Documentation updated (+FAQ).
    (That's all, go download RockNES 0.95 now)

  • It's not RS who's dumping and releasing the very first NeoGeo Pocket Color roms, he only posted screenshots for now... as pointed by SubPort, it's both Menace and Eurasia (two well-known groups on the GameBoy 'sk3n3') who are doing this.

  • And SNES9X v1.21 has been released... a Windows port should be the next one.

  • SMS Power released the 1st SMS rom after the "apocalypse"... and DOWNLOAD FROM THE MIRRORS IF YOU CAN.

  • Happy "Day After" ! If you're into Z80 emulators (for using with other emulators you may write or modify) consider trying this new one called RAZE.

  • Deja vu ? Kinox opened a ROMs section and for the grand opening they released Star Ocean for the SNES. I assume it's a good dump :)
    *** UPDATE: according to what I just read at EmuCamp it may be another bad dump... only time will tell. This would increase the number of Star Ocean bad dumps doing the rounds...

  • Today's SMS Power release is Smash TV. I didn't even know that this one existed on the SMS too :/ And if Nostradamus was right, this will probably be SMS Power's last release...

  • You thought I dropped this subject ? Heh, it goes on... END presents "The Good, The Bad and The 50-50" (part 2).
    The Good: A brand new MSX-related news site has opened :)
    The Bad: NeoBreak was forced to shut down. May it rest in peace.
    The 50-50: This site, which you should consider visiting if you're bored, and enjoy seeing and rating someone else's faces.

  • SEEEEEGAAAAAA !!! SMS Power released a 3-in-1 Light Phaser game... and Genesis Power released After Burner for the 32x.

  • MSIX is the name of the newest MSX emulator out there. And it's also the name of another emulator coded in QBasic... head on to the MEP to download it.

  • Let's put it this way... if the world really ends tomorrow, no one will see a new release of RockNES, which has been scheduled for this Thursday.

  • ASCII got some competition... because of this new 2D fighting game creator called MUGEN. This game-creating engine is already being tested as well. Thanks to DVGC for the news.

  • I thought this thing was killed, but I just saw that The Scribe just released the SNES List v0.01 ! No need to say anything else about this... just go get it at ZD.

  • And if you feel like compiling your own MAME, check out Zan's Tribute to MAME, it has a MAME Compile FAQ and it's very interesting and informative. Thanks to Seon for the link.

  • Dave's Classics just posted the source code to MAME 0.36 beta 2 !!! (the binary will be available asap) Gridle called this a 'comic book beta'... heh, biggest news is that TMNT2 and SunsetRiders emulation are almost complete... but some games such as X-Men, Crude Buster and The Simpsons (yes BobaFett, you can start jumping and laughing now) are playable :) *** UPDATE: the binary's already available at the official MAME website.

  • Two versions of the 32X port of Space Harrier were dumped and released by Genesis Power.

  • New releases: JNES 0.01, FCE Ultra 0.15 and Hu-Go 0.98 official beta. (I don't usually post and read huge news bits)
