news by FNM We keep moving... now we have our own domain thanks to MGandhi. Please bookmark our new URL:

www.end-br.org
After this, I wanna take some time to THANK YOU ALL FOR THE CONTINUED SUPPORT !!! Without your help this site wouldn't grow as much as it did... and you must've noticed that we're about to reach 300,000 visits ! So mail me a screenshot if you're visitor 300,000 (no fakes allowed).
And, on a sidenote, there are some sections here which need an update, too bad I have quite little time for this site nowadays (but I don't intend on discontinuing it !!!). Sections such as the ROMs (which will be reduced) and Links (which will grow quite a bit) need an update as soon as possible. And the GOTW section will disappear again (sorry about that... no time).

news Nofrendo now has a new server to host his webpage. Matt Conte, author of that NES emulator, is ready to use the new server and move. There will be the new official site of the emulator.

news by FNM JAS-SYS1, JROK's Namco System 1 (arcade) emulator, was already updated to version 1.1 beta and it's available at sites such as RetroGames and SYS2064. MSKISS, a spanish MSX emulator, was also updated , and big news are that it adds MSX2 support !

news by FNM GYM2MID v0.7 beta was released, go get it at its official webpage... thanks to EmuNews for this one.

news by FNM I don't remember who said this but, will Meka be the NESticle of SMS emulation ? Well... after seeing its homepage... I started thinking so after seeing the screenshots. And I trust Zoop :)

news by FNM I found an interesting website today: Yuzo Koshiro's WebPage. If you ever played Super Shinobi and/or Streets of Rage on the Genesis, you'll surely know who is that guy named Yuzo Koshiro. If you still don't remember him, he's the responsible for the kickass soundtrack of those two terrific games (and more !).

news by FNM I can't stop laughing because of this message which was posted by The Scribe on Eidolon's Message Board... read it NOW :)
OK, OK, I already stopped laughing but that text's really funny :)

news by FNM Emu News Service is back with a vengeance... be sure to bookmark www.emunews.net, and note that EmuNews isn't 'full-powered' again... yet.

news by FNM Compatibility Charts galore ! Both the SNES and the N64 charts were updated, and for now they're available at Zophar's Domain.

news by FNM Whew, lots of emulators were updated these days, here are some: GBFan 1.08, WinNES 0.06b, R80 0.08, NES4PC 0.35 alpha 2, BOCHS 990219a and SNES9X 1.18d (Linux, Solaris and SunOS ports updated for now).
But the most surprising updates are AdamEm 1.0 (which wasn't updated in quite some time... 2 years, I guess) and Stella 1.1 (one of the oldest Atari2600 emulators out there).
Also... two new emulators 'debuted': Virtual-E (a brand new Virtual Boy emulator with a kick-ass GUI but no games are playable yet) and JAS Namco System 1 v1.0 public beta (wow... finally a Namco System 1 emulator ! Only runs PacMania for now but it's amazing... and it REQUIRES MMX support, for y'all with older PCs).

news by FNM So... demolition was right, Kallus 2 is a hoax ! Thanks to Gridle and to a MAMEDEV, who reported that Kallus2 only READS CPS2 ROMs, and doesn't do anything else.

news by FNM "How to become as rich as Bill Gates"... this site explains it all. Thanks to SYS2064 for the link !

news by FNM A new version of KGen was released. But, unlike the others, it is NOT freeware. Unlike the others, it comes with 8 ROMs within its package. And, unlike the others, it is now named Sega Smash Pack. Now, a few things that made many ppl think that 'KGen = Sega Smash Pack':
- I saw this when I opened SMASH.EXE with the MS-DOS editor: Encoded for KGen Ultra / Sega Smash Pack / Snake KML 1999!
- I also saw this, when I opened SMASH.CFG with the same editor: KGeNi دد‎‎‎‎‎ُ+ً-
- And finally, some text from the Sega Smash Pack README.TXT:
10. CREDITS
Sega PC
-------
Executive Producer
Matt Wolf
(more credits...)
Lead Programmer and Original Technology
Steve Snake

Ok, ok. Now, do I need to say anything else about this ? :)

news by FNM Kallus 2 went into some kind of 'beta-testing phase'. The beta is available for downloading at their site... but it's an ARJ (not a ZIP) and it's password protected. I still think it's a fake... but... hey, I also thought bleem! was a fake !!! And... look what demolition wrote about this Kallus2 thingy:
"Man... those photos (at the Kallus2 site) are from the PC version of X-Men: COTA. I'm 100% sure about what I'm saying, because at an arcade near my home I already saw the machine being booted, and its boot screens are totally different than the ones (screenshots) posted at the Kallus2 site. If you press F10 on the PC version you can get those screens like the ones on the Kallus2 site. []'s"
Good point, dude. I only hope you're right...

news by FNM Classicgaming.com gets boycotted ! Both Emu News Service and Nofrendo Homepage left Classicgaming for moral reasons (Classicgaming registered the domain www.emunews.com without warning Jim Pragit, and emunews.com was pointing to the Classicgaming main page, not to the real EmuNews... this pissed off Pragit, and Matt Conte took pity on poor Jim, and also left Classicgaming).
Now my two only reasons to visit Classicgaming's sites are called SYS2064 and The Dump.

news by FNM A few new versions of MAME (named KBMAME and OCMAME), which are supposed to have faster NeoGeo emulation, were released a few days ago, you can find those at the usual suspects (RetroGames, Zophar's Domain, News-u-Lator, and others). There is also IMAME for all you italian ppl out there.
Other emulator releases that you simply can't miss are RockNES 0.73 and Hu6280 Win v1.89 beta 6.

news by FNM Wow, BrSMS won't be a console-only emulator in its next version :) That's because Ricardo announced that SC3000 (a very very old Sega computer) support will be in the next version of BrSMS. A screenshot of SC3000 emulation can be found at the BrSMS official homepage.
And don't get confused... SC3000, here, does NOT mean SimCity 3000 :)

Congratulations for Vai-Vai and Imperatriz...

news by Jose Cervejeiro DBoy 0.44c has been released today (updated again), here's what's new: Fixed initial state of SIO (Aryway got to move) and refixed LCD part (The part software not to move). Thanks to Dave for the news...
And drugs are bad, mmmkay ?

news by FNM Speaking of MAME team,
"...the MAME team is in the preliminary stages of talks with a game company to put MAME into arcade machines ! This machine would contain licensed games and allow you to play your favorite retro games in the arcade..."
Well, enough said. I only hope that this doesn't become another reason for the gaming companies to keep trying to kill the emu scene. Thanks to Arcade@Home for the news.

news by FNM To the MAME team... Double Dribble has been dumped and ready for you !!! Woo hoo !!!

news by FNM And ... do you enjoy PC clones of your favorite old games ? If you do... check out Dave's PC Clones Game Archive and Emulatronia's 'Clónicos'. I bet you'll find many interesting stuff on those pages...

news by FNM What the #$&¨ is Kallus 2 ???
a) a promising CPS2 emulation project
b) another fake !
c) not worth our attention
d) none of the above :)
Well, you decide what it is ! Thanks to avtr for the link.
By the way, some people already chose b, claiming that the X-Men: COTA screenshots are from the PC version.

news by FNM DBoy 0.44b released... this is a bugfix release (MBC1 and MBC3 bugs fixed), and you can also get it at UNAE (where I saw this first).

Happy Carnaval !

news by FNM The Windows port of Hu6280 has just been updated to v1.89 beta 4 ! Support for Load & Save States was added on this release. Thanks to jamsponge for the news (yes, the Hu6280 author... who just announced this on IRC)

news by FNM Interesting update on the RockNES homepage... it tells that a compatibility list should be released tomorrow by Kritz... and also tells that a new version MAY be released this week ! (keep your fingers crossed)

news by FNM "Would you buy a new Ninja Gaiden title by Tecmo?" If you want it, now is the time to tell Tecmo, who is passing responses along to the powers that be in Japan who could make such a game happen."
So is there a possibility of a new Ninja Gaiden title ? That's a thing stated on this page. Thanks to over for the link.

news by FNM The Gray Area, a well-known NES emulation site, put online 5 interesting NES ROMs, and at least 3 of them were previously unreleased... go get 'em, collectors and leechers out there :)

news by FNM I almost forgot to report about the release of PacX 0.1 (a 3D PacMan clone by Mike Balfour, which isn't in 3D YET, but it's still great)... thanks to PureNews for remindin' me about this.

news by FNM Both aMAME and pMAME were updated to v0.35 beta 3, courtesy of Rodimus Prime. Thanks to EmuNews for the tidbit.

news by FNM The Scribe released yesterday the SNES Compatibility Chart v1.7... and it's available for download at Zophar's Domain. Thanks to Emulation Happenings for the news.

news by FNM Honestly, I think that I'll start updating this site weekly... :)
- rob` hasn't really discontinued Emulation Happenings forever... in fact, it's up and running again !
- GameBoy emulation has surely improved a lot ! A new GameBoy emulator (helloGB) is out and has been updated this week... two other GameBoy emulators that were updated are GBFan and DBoy.
- iNES has been updated to version 1.0 ... I haven't tried this new version yet... but according to what's new, it surely has improved a lot. Question is... is iNES worth registering ?
- BrSMS 1.17 was released to the public. And the 'Parrot video mode' requires VESA 2.0 or better, for those who can't use it.
- Stakes Winner 2 has been released at NeoCharity... an OLD and great game indeed !
- Kazzuya also got a job at some company out there and, unfortunately, he also quit the PSEmu team. Farewell... :(
- 99,9% of the Iron Maiden fans out there already know about this, but I'm too happy to post that both Bruce Dickinson and Adrian Smith have re-joined Iron Maiden !!! Also, the PC Game 'Ed Hunter' may be out for the public in May.
- And the most important news this week... the release of MAME 0.35 beta 3, which now runs Street Fighter 1, Tropical Angel, Captain Silver, and some other 'new' titles. You can get a few roms at SYS2064. And NeoMAME 0.35 beta 3 was released as well.
My excuses for these 'weekly updates' are... that I haven't been only messing with emulation nowadays. I've found other things to do... :)

news by FNM Bad news for GWAR fans... the projects of 'the GWAR game' were cancelled by Tranquil Lament Software. Click here to read more about this.

news by FNM A modified version of UltraHLE is floating around the 'net, and it won't be posted here and in any other decent websites. So if you wanna find it... go search for it... and try the LAME websites (such as N64zone, the lamest N64 website out there)

news by FNM Hu6280 has been ported to Windows 9x ! This release is pretty amazing, and the author is expecting some feedback from the (non-lame) users :) As usual, Jamanoid is included on the package.

news by FNM This site needs some updating:
- Yes, Connectix won the '1st Round' of the 'fight' against Sony, but I think it's too early to celebrate any victories. I think that we only won a battle, not the whole war against those who are trying to kill the real emulation scene. I'm not being very optimistical (and cheerful), but that's only my point of view on this subject. You're allowed to agree (or not) with me.
- Happy birthday to... MAME, which celebrated its 2-year birthday some days ago... and, speaking of this great emulator, Nicola Salmoria, the man who 'started it all', got interviewed by EmuViews.
- RealityMan, one of the UltraHLE authors, has not only discontinued his emulator, but also quit emulation as well. (one minute of silence, please)
- And the source code for uNESsential 0.20 was released. All the QBasic programmers/fans/maniacs/or curious ppl out there should consider this one a 'must-download'.
Missed some emulator releases here and there ? Try checking some more 'older' news at: RetroGames, News-u-Lator, UNAE and even EmuNews. You'll see things like, updates for BrSMS, DANJI, DBoy, PSEmu and other stuff...

news by FNM Wanna find ROMs in newsgroups ? A cool guy named Kevin Butler is giving you some help with this...
(now quoting the email he sent me a few days ago:)
I've created a web page to assist people in getting into newsgroups and finding things such as ROM's, etc. If you would like, you can link to my page at the following URL:
http://members.tripod.com/~Kevin_Butler/newsgroups.html
Hopefully, this will assist folks in finding those hard to find ROM's.
Go visit that page if you're interested ! (I am)

news by FNM Subliminal messages in Windows 95 ??? Weird... very very weird... thanks to mannn for the link.
(somehow I managed to see that dark horse they mentioned !)

news by FNM NeoCharity released the sound ROMs for KOF '98 ... and, speaking of sound, Apollo69 redumped the sound ROMs for Money Puzzle Exchanger.
OK, you can go leech these ones now :)

news by FNM Thanks to RetroGames, I read an article (click here to read it) which will make me sue Sony for stealing my ideas which I'd suggest for a next-generation console !!!

news by FNM UltraHLE fix utility ? Thanx but no thanx... sounds too much of a miracle for me.
It was just a stupid Trojan that deletes your /Windows/System directory. If you were a victim of this 'holy utility', I only feel sorry for you. Try using your brains a bit more next time. Unfortunately even a part of Zophar's Domain was fooled by this tricky program.
Now I know of one more reason for the UltraHLE team to stop developing their incredible N64 emulator. More and more immature people are getting into the emu scene (or what's left of it)... as if the ROM beggars weren't bad enough for the true emu fans.

news by FNM More bad news for y'all (if the latest bad news weren't enough) : Duddie (one of the pioneers of PSX emulation) left the PSEmu team. Go to the PSEmu official homepage and see his 'I-quit message'... now I only hope that Kazzuya and the former PSyKe members who joined the PSEmu Team don't quit very soon.
Best wishes to Duddie !!!

news by FNM NeoMAME has been updated to version 0.35 beta 2A... this is because of NeoCharity's latest NeoGeo ROM release: an old but very cool fighting game called Breakers.
And I do agree with Chemical, when he mentioned that "there is plenty to release" (talking about NeoGeo titles). There are not only newer titles (such as NeoGeo Cup '98) to be released, but also some good old ones (did I mention Breakers Revenge ?)

news by FNM Thanks to Lance_mc, I've been 'warned' about the new games which will be supported on the next release of Nao's M72... you can see some screenshots of those new games here.
Just to (try to) make you happy, I announce that two of those games are In the Hunt and R-Type Leo !

news by FNM I just wanna remind you about the release of Raine 0.18 (news posted here yesterday and already sent to our News Archives). And, speaking of arcade emulation, you better also download the brand new Shark 3.0 (by the Dead Serious Clan... you can download this one from RetroGames), which runs some pretty cool games such as Truxton. Shark 3.0 is Windoze-only, unfortunately.
Oh, and another cool emulator that was updated is uNESsential (updated to version 0.20, source code for this new version isn't available yet). Big news are palette emulation and frameskipping. And I wanna remind you that you'll require a 1GHz computer to run this emulator at full speed :)

news by FNM 'The UltraHLE effect' caused many many trouble in the emu scene (mainly because of the stupid ROM beggars who can't even look for ROMs by themselves). At least two emulators were discontinued because of this: NINCEST64 and UltraHLE (unfortunately). (the only) Good news is that RockNES was NOT discontinued after all !!!
(and... if you still have UltraHLE available for downloading at your website, please remove it... at least this is what the authors have requested.)
