news by Jose Cervejeiro Two days after the debut of UltraHLE, a new 'next-gen' emu debuts... well, sort of. Anyway, click here for the first Dave's Classics emulator ever.
And before you ask, we won't add N64 ROMs here.

news by FNM Bad news for the emulation community... here's one of the latest WAREZ releases:
UltraHLE_Emu_N64_Pack-iND [xx/38] (click here to read the .nfo file)
The pack contains games such as Goldeneye, Mario 64, Zelda 64, Starfox 64 and a few others. But the distribution of a package containing the emulator and ROMs TOGETHER isn't recommended.
Oh, and if you don't have a 3DFX card and want to run UltraHLE, check out a neat utility posted at RetroGames today.

news by FNM If you're STILL interested in arcade emulation, visit EmuViews and check out a new article about SF1 emulation on MAME... did I mention two screenshots of SF1 running ?

news by FNM <bummer> Two great emulator releases I missed: DBOY 0.40a and RuMSX 0.15. </bummer>

news by FNM A cool GFX-enhancing feature named 'Parrot' will be present on the next version of BrSMS. It looks REALLY amazing... and, at least for me, 'Parrot' is some kind of an 'EAGLE' clone :) Be sure to check out BrSMS's screenshot gallery.

news by FNM Err... one minute of silence... it seems like UltraHLE is already 'dead'. Go visit the official homepage to see what the authors wrote about their release.

news by FNM NeoGeo ROM releases: Robo Army MVS (dumped by Lothar) at RetroGames and the sound fix for Real Bout 2 (dumped by Apollo69, who also BOUGHT the game !!!) at NeoCharity.

news by FNM Whew, I guessed right :)
The 'next-generation console emulator' announced by EmuUnlim, and so awaited by everybody, was finally released for the public. It's a brand new N64 emulator called UltraHLE (Ultra64 High Level Emulator)... and it can play some commercial N64 ROMs, such as Mario 64 and Zelda ! This is, indeed, the most important emulator release of the year... but, for those who don't have a 3DFX (Voodoo1 or 2) card, I have bad news: this emulator REQUIRES a 3DFX card :( But Direct3D support is being worked on. You can download this emu at RetroGames or at its official homepage.
Too bad that I don't have a 3DFX card, I could be testing either WaveRace or International Superstar Soccer '98 right now...

news by FNM Arcade ROMs from Japan (aka J-ROM) released two great, but yet unemulated ROMsets: Nemesis 2 and Super Contra.

news by FNM Two more NeoGeo ROMsets were released: Maruko Deluxe Quiz by Arcade ROMs from Japan (aka J-ROM) and Joy Joy Kid (MVS Version) by Lothar ... speaking of this guy (Lothar), it was announced on RetroGames that he's gonna dump a few more ROMs, including the RBFF2 soundfix, the KOF98 sound ROMs, and some others, including a new japanese game (which is said to be 40MB big ... maybe it's Last Blade 2 ?!?!?!?)

news by FNM I'm too lazy:
- DANJI 0.0485 released, now it has SideWinder support ;
- MAME32 0.35 beta 1 was officially released ;

news by FNM And some news about N64 emulators:
- NSFE was discontinued a few days ago, but I heard from some sources that it may return.
- And finally the N64 Ultimate authors admitted that their 'emulator' was a FAKE.

news by FNM New emulators out there !
- SNES9X (DOS) 1.16a with GUI - anything else ? The same old (and very good) SNES9X... and that GUI rocks !
- DANJI 0.484 - I don't know what's new, since I don't use this emu and I can't read Korean. But I saw something about 'danji.ini' or something like that...
- DBOY 0.40 - Super GameBoy and 2-player support are the new features of this great GB emulator.
- VBEmu98 0.6 - this one is more compatible now, and is much more faster than the previous version. Available for DOS and Linux.

news by FNM Color GameBoy SDK, anyone ? Well, if you're interested, visit Zophar's Domain and get it ! And make it quick because it was already removed and reposted on that site...

news by FNM Another NeoGeo sound ROM fix by ROMList... this time Neo BomberMan was fixed ! Oh, and while you're at ROMList, be sure to check out the arcade art posted there... great stuff !

news by FNM And now we have a new logo (we used to have 5 logos, now we have 6), thanks to ViEtxB0Y !

news by FNM The Game of the Week section has been updated with a new classic :) Enjoy !

news by FNM MGandhi was drunk when I was tellin' him about 'Pepi', so I'll tell you what REALLY happened that day...
I guess that happened in the penultimate Saturday of '98... I, along with my friend Marcio, went back from downtown... and in the way back home we passed in front of a hotdog stand (no, a hotdog VAN), and there were some guys choosing what to drink, and the seller (a woman, not a man) told those guys "Hmm, we have some softdrinks like Fanta, Guarana, Sprite, Pepsi, etc. etc. etc." ... and one of them answered "OK, gimme a Pepi then !" ... man... that was really hilarious ... Marcio was the one who noticed that and when he told that to me (he was already laughin' lots) I started laughing like crazy... and, because of that happening, Marcio made the 'Pepi logo' (more like a collage).
Well, that's the full story behind 'Pepi'. Hope you enjoyed it :) Ah, I erased the old one written by MGandhi (sorry man, but you were way too drunk to write about that yesterday !)

news by MGandhi Yes, Another non-related emulation news :) But if you like emulation you will like UGI. UGI (Unfeil Game Industry) is a game group and released many good OLD games, you need visit it!

news by FNM A very well-known and respected emulation site, which is considered as an inspiration for some newer emu sites out there, has made its comeback... I'm talking about Atmospherical Heights !!! Visit that site before you die, you won't regret it :)

news by FNM UNAE pointed me to a site which contains some kind of FAQ about running KOF98 on the current emulators... and it's called KOF '98 Unofficial ROM Support and Q&A... worth a visit if you can't run KOF98 and got desperate...

news by FNM I'm a bit sick today, but... I'm updating to warn you about the releases of new versions of the following emulators: BOCHS (IBM 80x86 PC emulator for Windows), Hu6280, BrSMS (which got even better, but the new version (1.15) is only for regged users) and DANJI (the new version now runs KOF '97 and '98, although it still lacks sound support).

news by Jose Cervejeiro OH MY GOD ! No, they didn't kill Kenny :) But thanks to Atila, I (as well as many ppl) found a cool thing called Game & Watch Simulator, which is some kind of emu for those Nintendo Game&Watch pocket games... for now, only Octopus has been released, but I'm sure that some more games will come out... (Popeye is the next) Be sure to check out that page... and remember that the Game&Watch 'emu' requires the VB5 runtime libraries.

news by FNM Two big things happened today:
- NeoCharity is also back. And their return had to be glorious... especially with the release of The King of Fighters '98 !!! Yeah, probably the most anticipated NeoGeo release has happened today... unfortunately, because of some ppl who spread KOF '98 when it was private, the sound ROMs weren't released yet.
- ... but at least KOF '98 is fully playable (Super Sidekicks 4 is also fully playable also) on the new version of NeoMAME !!! (courtesy of Apollo69) The new NeoMAME can be downloaded from NeoCharity (and I saw it available at UNAE too)

news by FNM The Wanted Stuff page was updated, with more and more requests (mainly from me), and there are two new interesting SNES ROM requests by LuckyMan.

news by FNM Even more info on Sonic for the GameBoy, thanks to seventh for the following email (I'll post part of it):
"... Also all credits to this rom image are due to "TRISTAR & RED SECTOR INC. & LIGHTFORCE & FUSION CONSOLE" ; the cart was apparently provided by Ayatollah . They released it , I just found it thrown on a certain FTP ;) ."
Ah, and according to lilac (I read about this on UNAE), this game is a hack of Speedy Gonzalez... just like the SNES Sonic :)

| |
| Saturday, January 9, 1999

news by FNM Oh, there's no more need to email seventh about the GameBoy Sonic ROM... it looks like we already saved him from reading lots of docs :)

news by FNM Whee, I finally could access a great Nintendo (NES, SNES, GB & VirtualBoy) ROM site called Ace ROMs... all I can say is... great stuff :) I suggest you visit that site too...

news by FNM Eidolon's Inn and Norseman's Cybergrounds are proud to present the Genesis Game Guide v1.02 and the Genesis Emulator Compatibility Chart v1.32 (both released by The Scribe aka Sam Pettus).

news by FNM Today we reopen our Game of the Week section... and this week's game is Tehkan World Cup (Arcade) !!! Ah, we also changed the image map a bit, thanks to Jose Cervejeiro.

news by FNM Vertigo 2099 released their NES pack #53, containing the titles: Back to the Future, Battletank, Pebble Beach, Mutant Virus, Monster Truck Rally, Pebble Beach, Rally Bike, Rollerblade Racer and Star Soldier. This pack is also available on Vertigo's official mirror site.

news by FNM We posted a new GameBoy ROM for you all... it's SONIC ! Thanks to some people for this one, including vilagran, seventh, demolition and Dan Ford (who actually gave us the ROM). Speaking of this game, seventh warned me that his copy required some alterations in the ROM header, in order to be playable... please email him as soon as possible if you can help.

news by FNM Whew, EmuCamp releases another brand new Master System ROM: Columns ! Grab it while it's hot !

news by FNM Another emulators which were recently updated are z26 (updated to version 1.24) and aMAME (updated to 0.35 beta 1).

news by FNM Two ROMs were added here: Metal Slader Glory (rare japanese game which has 8 megs, thanks to Solid Snake (aka BurnForce) for that) for the NES, and SF2: Carnage Edition (a crappy hack of SF2, thanks to demolition and PACHUKA for that) for the SNES. Enjoy !

news by FNM News about GameBoy emulators: BoyCott 0.44 for DOS has been released, and the documentation of DBoy 0.38 in English is available here (translation courtesy of Yencu).

| Thursday, January 7, 1999

news by FNM MAME 0.35 beta 1 was released (and PMAME has also been updated to 0.35 beta 1) !!! Some new games are supported (such as Rolling Thunder), and there are the usual bugfixes... and one of the goals for 0.35 is to make Super Punch-Out fully playable (at least I think so). You can get it at RetroGames or at Zophar's Domain.

news by MGandhi Good news! GameROM now hosts the Official Vertigo 2099 Mirror !!! Now you can download all of the Vertigo packs there, with a good speed from our server. The site is maintained by seventh, any questions or suggestions e-mail him (his mail's on the Vertigo mirror site).

news by FNM Speaking of Bleem, it looks like that the Bleem beta was NOT intentionally leaked... the Bleem team claim that this beta was stolen, and they're asking everyone who posted it to remove it. And I (as well as some other people) was thinking that it was intentionally leaked just for the public to believe in it... and, at least for me, the word "Bleem", when said slowly, sounds like "Believe Me" or something... or am I nuts ? :)

news by FNM PSEmu Pro and Bleem will have some more competition: a new PSX emulator named Virtual GameStation has been released for the Mac, and a PC version of this emu will be coming out later (no one knows when exactly... and you can read more about this here). Virtual GameStation is commercial, unfortunately.

| Wednesday, January 6, 1999

news by FNM Hmmm... demolition gave me this OLD (but very good) tip to run NeoGeo ROMs with MAME on the MS-DOS Mode... before running MAME, run SMARTDRV.EXE, this will make the ROMs load pretty faster, and will reduce a bit the slowdowns during the game(s).

news by FNM An older beta version of Bleem was released (or leaked ???) to the public, and according to surf.to/bleem, it was 'leaked' with the authors' permission, so... head on to Dave's Classics and get your 'public' beta copy of Bleem... you better believe it now, it's NOT a fake ! Ah, speaking of this Bleem beta, Ultimate News and Emulators posted a small but informative article about how this release works (article written by Pokemon, one of that site's members).

news by FNM Two rare SNES ROMs were added: Home Improvement (very rare and pretty unknown game) and 'Anthrox NES Oldies Pack' (I don't know the official name of this pack... I only know that it's composed of 12 NES games 'ported' to the SNES, and that all those ROMs were assembled, packaged, dumped, released, etc etc etc by that well known group named Anthrox... and thanks to mannn for giving us this good ROM pack).

news by FNM GameBoy time ! Both DBOY and Virtual GameBoy were updated... if you're interested, visit the official sites (or visit Zophar's Domain) and go download them.

news by MGandhi It's only to notice: I made a logo and now can update END without protests from FNM :)

news by FNM NO$GMB has been updated to version 2.0, and I suggest you visit Ultimate News and Emulators to read what's new... and also... I strongly suggest the author to change the name of NO$GMB to something else, since it costs $2 to register his emulator... (it should be renamed to something like "AlmostNO$GMB")

news by FNM Oh well... every good things come to an end :( According to this announcement, Tratax (one of the authors of PSEmu Pro) is leaving the emulation scene, because he accepted an offer from some american gaming company... well, this is certainly bad news for us, but also very good news for him :) We wish him good luck... and he'll certainly be missed by the REAL emu fans.

news by FNM BrSMS 1.14 is out !!! As usual, it is for registered users only, so I encourage you YET AGAIN to register it at the official homepage, after all, registering BrSMS won't cost you anything ! Here's a list of what's new in BrSMS 1.14:
- Reduced Z80 clock from 3.57MHz to 3.32MHz (this seems to be the correct)
- New line by line engine (SMS "Global Gladiators", "Cool Spot", "Gauntlet")
- Added "-line" to force the line-by-line engine
- Added "-block" to force the block-based engine
- Support to zoomed sprites (GG "X-Men")
- Optimized the VESA 2 video modes for MMX processors (100% speed gain)
- Now the speaker is turned off when the emulator exits
- Tweaked the border color, now GG "Fatal Fury Special" has less flicker
- Now BrSMS displays the known bugs of the game at startup
Well, that's all. Now go to the BrSMS official homepage and register it... you won't regret this ! (I say that as a satisfied registered user of BrSMS)

news by FNM VBEmu, so far the only Virtual Boy emulator, will have a MAJOR speed increase... according to the official homepage, VBEmu will run at full speed on a P200... well, only time will tell that.

news by FNM Two great emulators were updated: MAME32 0.34 FINAL (much slower than the regular MAME) and Nemu64 0.008 (which REALLY shows the Nintendo64 logo when trying to emulate WaveRace !)

(I still didn't get used to write 1999 instead of writing 1998.)

news by Jose Cervejeiro Happy new year, Marat.

news by FNM Let's make it quick:
- I'm back, and Jose Cervejeiro is back since 1/1/99, but he's too lazy.
- This site wasn't hacked. MGandhi is really one of the #GameROM members... and he'll be fired if he updates again without using a logo :)
- "Nuestro amigo" vilagran warned me that a version of Sonic for the GameBoy exists, so I guess I'll have to add it to the wanted list.
- To see older news, try visiting the "Fantastic Four"... News-u-Lator, RetroGames, Ultimate News and Emulators and Zophar's Domain.
- And last but not least, a comment about our releases. When we decide to release something on the 'net, we ALWAYS try to give the dumpers/releasers/developers (in case of pirate titles)/etc. the credit they deserve. We already learned a lesson about 'releasing something really rare' back in '98, when we 'released' the Sonic 4 (Genesis) prototype and, later on, we realized that the same title was released FIRST at Eidolon's Inn. After that happened, we (as far as I know) didn't make any other mistaken releases, giving the credit of those releases to the people who REALLY deserve it all... unlike some other not-so-mature 'people' (I tried my best to call those guys 'people'... they know who they are) who prefer getting all the credit for themselves only, fooling the public like they always do (just to gain popularity among the lamers).

Fasten Your Seatbelts - The Webmasters are gone!

If you are too lazy to use a Hex Editor to modify Genecyst's save states we provide you a little help here .
This will take you to Hidden Palace with the debug on :

How convenient ... some people are just so naive . Well , ladies and gentlemen , those children have just changed their news all over , now giving credit to the real people who deserve it . I guess our work is done . And a lesson was learned .

If you are struggling reaching new areas in Sonic 2 Beta you may try the debug mode. (This was taken from alt.fan.sonic-hedgehog) . Remember : At the title screen press A+Start for level select ; while there B+Start will lead you to a buggy Split Screen and C+Start to a darker version of the stages .
Also interesting content about this gem are found on Secrets of Sonic the Hedgehog .

Last minute update : This was just retrieved from UseNET : (Simon Wai replying to the warning we posted about newbies adventuring the emulation world) :

"Wow, finally some people I can trust :) Thanks.
For those brazilians, unfortunately we can't do anything _useful_ about
it. Don't worry, judgement day is coming (j/k)."

We feel like there's nothing more to be added nor said on this matter .

There's an interesting piece of news about some burglars here .

Another good Genesis ROM release (thanks to lo_wang for the news). Yesterday (when I was sleeping) Duke Nukem 3D (TecToy) was released. This is another release with it's premiere taking place at Usenet . Jolly Snowman states it was dumped by his mysterious friend XXX ... yeah right ;) . Congrats to Jolly anyway , he made it public . You can see some pics of the box clicking in the link below .
To download this game go to our Genesis Rom page and have fun. Oh and excuse my poor english, my 'English Human Checker' (seventh) is not perfect .

The Second update of the year...

Well let's explain what happened with 'Sonic 2 Beta'. We got it from seventh. Seventh is a #Gamerom user and sent us yesterday this rom claiming he got it from UseNET. But , unfortunately ,another brazilian emulation group (newbies) 'released' it such as their FIRST GOOD RELEASE. This action shows to you why brazilian image in emu scene is poor. ALL credits for this rom are proudly awarded to S.W., user of alt.binaries.emulators.sega (UseNET) who promised and posted it to EVERYONE. And the funny thing in this confusion is: they don't want to talk about it.

Point your browser here for the OFFICIAL release page .
