  • First big news I saw today was the release of MAME 0.36 beta 6 ! (source: RetroGames)

  • Manic Miner, Jet Set Willy and Skool Daze... those Speccy games were re-done for the PC (Klass of '99 is very cool, imho) and are available at RetroSpec.

  • "Everything you wanted to know about the CPS Changer but couldn't/wouldn't ask because (insert a good reason here)." (source: SYS2064)

  • This may be great news in the future... David Tucker intends on releasing the source code for his VirtualBoy emulator... however he's still deciding on releasing (or not) the mentioned source code. (source: EmuViews)

  • As you noticed already with a new release of MEKA, Zoop is back. Another result of this are the four new SMS titles at SMS Power.

  • Lately there are some ppl known in the emulation sk3n3 being put for sale on eBay... this already happened (at least) to Marat, Zophar, and Dave (c0njurer)... question is, who's gonna put PACHUKA and MickoZ on auction ???

  • The DOS port of SNES9X 1.26 is out, and there are some specific changes for that port: (source: RetroGames)
    - Added Full Screen Bilinear Interpolation and Full Screen Bilinear Interpolation + Grid. These ought to look like 3Dfx mode in the windows port, and they are faster than their 2xSaI counterparts.
    - All full screen image processors have been partially rewritten using MMX.
    - Oops. Forgot to change the display drivers of modes 9 to 12 back from VESA2L to AUTODETECT. VESA 1.x/3.0, VBE/AF support is back.
    - Cheat codes can now be entered and removed from the GUI.
    - Cheatfinder finally works. At the moment it's only possible to search for byte values, but that shouldn't be too much of a problem.

  • MEKA 0.30 is out for the peons who didn't register yet.

    - GB halt bug implemented;
    - Few bugfixes in cpu core.

  • Boring day indeed... well, here's something I forgot to post: the release of NO$GMB v2.3a. (source: Kinox)

  • Now you Windows emulator fans will be able to enjoy MAME32 0.36 beta 5. (source: RetroGames)

  • The japanese dump of Star Wars Arcade (32X) was released by Genesis Power.

  • You probably already know what I'm talking about on this post, but... head on to EmuCult for two nice surprises.

  • Bad news... unfortunately vWorld will be going offline :(

  • SNES9X 1.26 (Linux only) is out. (source: Emulatronia)

  • I just heard about a Tetris clone called TETRIPZ... here's a "brief description" of that clone (quoting what was posted on its website): "Imagine playing Tetris under influence of LSD, but without the LSD".
Heh... go download it and have fun :) Thanks to _Zaphod_ for the link.

  • Heh... I'm glad to introduce you The Complete Guide on How to Freak Out a Roommate. Thanks to rde for the link.

  • SMS Power released two new GameGear titles: Tails' Sky Patrol and Tempo Jr. I had a strange server error when trying to access SMS Power two minutes ago but it's ok now (probably it's my connection, or Speedhost is $%#¨!¨$ed).

  • Ahh... R-Type on MAME soon... I really wanna see that M72 driver improving (especially because of R-Type Leo and X-Multiply).

  • (bugfix) KOF '91 0.5.1 (bugfix) was (bugfix) released (bugfix). (source: Dave's)

  • KoRn... oops... Corn is the name of the newest N64 emulator that got released to the public. I can't write anything else about N64 emus because my video card is a piece of... oops. By the way, it requires DirectX 6.1 or higher... you can head on to this labyrinth and try to find DirectX 7 (which was released a few moments ago) by yourself. Have a nice... err... trip. (source: RetroGames)
*** UPDATE: you can download DirectX 7 from EmuSphere.

  • Meka 0.30 will be released to the public in a few days... while the public release doesn't happen you can check out the new features here. (source: SMS Power, who just released World Cup '94 for the SMS)

  • Genesis Power released BC Racers for the 32X.

  • Genesis Power released the dump for a shooter called Darxide (for the 32X) that was only released in Europe. And Kujakuou, the japanese version of SpellCaster, was just released by SMS Power.

  • I already received 2 emails regarding the Links Section... well, one is to warn me (and everyone else) that Genesis Temple has now an english version, and the link to SYS2064 had to be fixed (it's fixed now).

    - FINALLY... I updated the Links Section ! Well, not many new sites appeared (I even removed some)... so contact me if you wanna submit your site... and I'll see whether I'll add it or not.

    - This page is a really good proof that there are really sick people out there...

    - David Tucker updated his Virtual Boy programming docs... interested ? :) (source: Kinox... who also interviewed David Tucker !)

    - A new DBOY is finally out :) I only wish I knew japanese so I could tell what's new... (source: #retrogamers)

    - ZSNES 0.963 is out already... right now I'm trying to download it just to see what's new... 26% done already... yes, way to go... 49%... I already heard that ZSNES became even faster... 65%... go, go, go... and Kirby's DreamLand 3 runs on it since 0.960... DONE ! Now you can also read what's new by clicking here. (sources: BobaFett and #GameROM)
*** Mea culpa: I've been mistyping the new ZSNES version numbers since yesterday.

    - ZSNES 0.962 is out. It's some kind of bugfix release, fixing those sound problems you probably had and adding some SA-1 speedups... and also adding diagonal keys. (source: RetroGames)

    - There's a new MSX emulator out there called WOOM. Its goal is accurate MSX emulation not depending of the emulation speed. This means that only people with fast computers will fully enjoy this one. (source: MEP)

    - Hu-Go! received a minor update...

    - The Weekly ROMs were changed, and as I promised I included vt-nes64.zip among those... and please read the additional note on the roms page, it's about crc errors that may happen while you download them.

    - Another great emulator release today... this time it's MAME 0.36 beta 5 which now features 1000 unique playable games :) (source: RetroGames)

    - For those who want to do their own translations... you better start smiling because CBT released a very nice and useful program called Table Manager which you should start downloading right now :) Ah, that program is available in both english and portuguese versions. (source: EmuCamp)

    - ZSNES 0.960 is out ! The new features are too many to list but some of them are related to SPC and SA-1 bugfixes/optimizations. Also, the ZSNES team started working on SDD-1 (what's this chip about ?) emulation. (source: Dave's)
Speaking of SA-1, I suggest you go visit Madoka ROMance once again...

    - SMS Power released Montezuma's Revenge... a classic indeed... and I also remember playing it on the good old Apple II. (by the way, DID ANYONE FIND CAR BUILDER FOR THE APPLE II ?) And Genesis Power released another version of MK2 for the 32X.

    - Here's something I forgot... Spec256 v1.2 final ! Now also available in english. (source: Emulatronia)

    - SMS Power released SpiderMan: Return of the Sinister Six.

    - KOF '91 0.5 has been released... biggest news is that it was ported to Win32... and got many additions :) Check it out because it's really cool (although some of you may think it's a piece of shit, but I don't care). (source: RetroGames)

    - Hmm, one of the weekly roms (or a bunch of those) I'll try posting this weekend is Vertigo NES Pack #64. By posting this, I hope no other sites rip me off (hi, emulamers).

    - I hope you all caught up with the latest news (at least I did)... this includes Genesis Power and SMS Power releases which were too many to list.
    Today is being pretty boring.

    - I think I should explain the lack of updates for the last two days (9/13 and 9/14, both of which I want to remove from my calendar). Well, plain and simple: my grandfather died this monday.
All I can do now is to tell you to head on to the Weekly ROMs section, if you want Pokémon GBC roms and a Genesis rom for collectors only. I still need to catch up with the latest news; to see those I recommend you to visit the other news sites. I also had to update the poll (which is meant to be updated on a monthly basis) today but I'll do that tomorrow, or in this weekend.
That's all, folks. Grandpa, may you rest in peace...

  • RockNES 0.96a is out... oh well, some bugs had to be squished... no more garbage on mapper #79 (and others) and now Batman: Return of The Joker (mapper #69 (heh)) works just fine. Again, thanks to Fx3 (yes, he's the RockNES author) for the news.

  • Raine 0.25c is already out... due to the fact that the 'net was frozen I missed the other 2 releases :P Oh well, have fun with the new Raine ! (source: RetroGames)

  • Genesis Power released Primal Rage for the 32X.

    Saturday, September 11, 1999

  • A Konami game called Gang Busters is gonna be added to MAME someday... and it's available now at Dumps from Spain ! (source: Emulatronia)

  • EmuXpress was updated recently... I think it's going to rain...

  • The Linux port of SNES9X was updated... and there's a lot of new features and bugfixes. (source: Dave's)

  • Great day for Sega 8-bit fans... SMS Power released three new titles (Alf, Ashura and Machinegun Joe), and Dump Masters released NINE different SG1000 titles, one of which is pretty rare... and a quick note: my SMS Power mirror is on hold because of server problems (well, at least some ppl got nasty crc errors while downloading stuff from my mirror). (sources: RetroGames and Kinox)

  • RockNES 0.96 has just been released... I suggest you go download it NOW and read the new features... because I'm gonna take some sleep in a few minutes and my connection's too slow. Thanks to Fx3 himself for the news.

  • v0.36 - CPU/SPC optimizations, IRQ fixes --- That's the 'whatsnew' for SNEeSe 0.36 which is out now. (source: RetroGames)

  • This regards my SMS Power mirror... some ppl notified me of downloading problems (and this is probably due to easyspace.com because all my local zips are OK) and I'll probably move the mirror to another free webspace server. Well... anyway, SMS Power released Rampart and there are other fish in the sea...

    Friday, September 10, 1999

  • While cheching SNES Redump 2000 (yet again, but I didn't do that in the past few days) I noticed that a shitload of good 'old new' stuff was added... OMG !
Also... TOPSNES got a brand new design yesterday.

  • A very minor update was made to Z26. (source: Dave's)

  • FCE Ultra 0.17 is out ! This release adds support for some more mappers, a new video mode, some speed limitations, etc. etc. etc. (source: Dave's)

  • The SNES dumping front isn't dead... and Madoka ROMance proves that very well... their (or his?) latest releases are both Kirby's Dreamland 3 and Street Fighter Zero 2. That Kirby game only works on SNES9X, I guess, and SF Zero 2 is still unsupported by emulators.

  • J-ROM released another classic Konami arcade game: Quarth ! (source: RetroGames)

  • BaRDS ('homeless' now) gave a great contribution (again) to Genesis Power... and this cooperation this time resulted on the release of RockMan X3 for the Genesis !!! (yes, it's a pirate title)

  • My SMS Power mirror now features Robocop 3. I also wanna take some time to thank all the other mirrors' maintainers.

  • Well, that ROM website that was supposed to return yesterday ... that didn't happen :/ The webmaster was MIA* so I couldn't talk to him also.
    * MIA = Missing In Action.

    Thursday, September 9, 1999

  • Genesis Power released the 32X version of Brutal.

  • Two MSX emulators were updated, both fMSX (Unix & Windows ports) and MSKISS. And two SMS emulators, MGX and Calypso were also updated. (sources: EmuCamp and Emulatronia)

  • ROMList released a new shooter called Gekiri Dan which I should be leeching yesterday already :/ Oh, and this game is also supported in Raine (visit the official site to see how to enable this game). (source: RetroGames)

  • SMS Power released George Foreman's KO Boxing and Robocop 3... all releases (all but Robocop 3) are available at my mirror.

  • Well, speaking of comebacks... UltraHLE has been resumed by RealityMan, who felt that the time is right to continue developing his N64 emulator. (source: Dave's)

  • Oh well, I spent 1 day (and a half) without a working phone line (thankyou Telefonica !), guess it's time to catch up... hmm, today at least one known ROM site is supposed to make a comeback.

    Tuesday, September 7, 1999

  • BaRDS released a great Genesis (and probably one of the last Genesis titles ever made) game called Mulan. Please note that this release has some problems (I dunno why)... but don't blame the dumpers about this... keep your whining to yourself.

  • I'm getting used to be outdated when it comes to my SMS Power mirror... George Foreman's KO Boxing was released by SMS Power and I still don't have it (but I have yesterday's release).

  • Heh... today's Independence Day (no, not the movie) here in Brazil. Don't you love holidays ?

    Sunday, September 5, 1999

  • I didn't even know that NBA Jam T.E. for the 32X existed... as you probably guessed this is today's Genesis Power release.

  • I updated my SMS Power mirror with VR Troopers for the GameGear. Meanwhile... SMS Power released two (or one ???) more SMS game(s): Vampire and Master of Darkness (actually these games are the same, but with different titles).

  • JFF 0.24 is out ! Three games now have FM sound emulation and Penguin-Kun Wars (I used to know this one as "Animal Wars" on the good old MSX, and this game is also emulated in MAME) is now supported. (source: SYS2064)

  • I call this one "M$ Bloopers part MCMXCIII: even more HotMail issues". (source: CNN)

  • OMG they killed Kenny... you bastards. (source: SlashDot)

  • This is the 4th time that StormHunter gotta abandon his work on the emu scene. Today, because of his recent full-time job (which won't let him continue with his hobby) he had to discontinue StormCade. Farewell... and I found out (by the worst way possible) that StormCade was REALLY some kind of 'sequel' to StormWorld.

  • Weekly ROMs updated. This week's highlights are Elitserien '96, which is the swedish version of NHL Hockey '96 (Genesis) and Out to Lunch (SNES), a pretty unknown game which... sucks and rules at the same time :P

    Saturday, September 4, 1999

  • The official MAME website has the binary for MAME 0.36 beta 4 now.

  • There's a new GameBoy emulator for Windows called HASH. For now, it's very slow and has no sound... I only hope it improves... but at least it's a free GB/GBC emulator for Windows...

  • The source code for MAME 0.36 beta 4 is out... the majority of the 29 new supported games are Namco System 1 games. Now that's some great news :) (source: EmuViews)

  • Till (of SYS2064) returned from his deserved vacations. Result of this is... a shitload of news is waiting for you @ SYS2064 :)

  • Bugfix time for the Windows port of SNES9X... go get 1.22a ! (source: RetroGames)

  • Genesis Power released NFL Quarterback for the 32x. I'm not very excited, though... american football is no fun for me.

  • I love soccer. You love soccer. Viper_Z loves soccer. I hope you got the point.

  • A really small (in size) SG1000 game called Guzzler was released by SMS Power. *** UPDATE: my SMS Power mirror has been updated with the latest releases.

  • Hu-Go! 1.01 was released and I suggest you go download it to read what's new :P (source: RetroGames) And another emulator that is out which you'll have to find what's new by yourself is MGX 0.10a. (source: EmuCamp)

  • (Don't you love copying and pasting ?) "Everything known so far on Nintendo's successor to the Game Boy Color. The information is in here." (source: games.ign.com)

  • MeGumi Rescue is SMS Power's latest release... I'm still wondering what kind of game is it but according to Zoop it's a very fun game (btw, Megumi is the name of my (sucky) Electronics teacher).

  • Another Sunset beta is out... this one's supposed to run 67 games... go figure them out by yourself or buy me a Voodoo2. (source: EmuSphere)

  • GeoShock has Pleasure Goal available for download, courtesy of RS.

  • Virtua attack... now Virtua Racing 32X has been released by Genesis Power !

  • NLMSX 0.10 is out and some kind of 'whatsnew.txt' follows: (source: Emulatronia)
    - Rewrote interrupt handling, thanks to Laurens Holst and Sean Young. (Sunrise Magazine#8, Sunrise Special #1, #2, #3 and the game Megadoom work just fine now)
    - Use F12 to reset the emulator
    - Added sprite transparency enable/disable bit support for sprite mode 2. (Ikari Warrior plays like it should now)

  • There's a new Sega 8-bit emulator doing the rounds called MesaDX. Please note that the initial release has no graphics emulation so no games will be playable. (source: EmuCamp)

  • A few days before SNES9X 1.22 was released for the Mac... and now the Windows port is also available. (source: RetroGames)

  • Genesis Power: released another dump of Virtua Fighter (32x).

  • SMS Power today released 3 new titles for both SMS & GameGear. And my somewhat outdated mirror now has GP World for download.

  • AX68k has been updated... the new features are shift/rotate code fix (loop count) (nothing else, I guess). (source: EmuUnlim)

  • Bookmark the new URL for the MSX Emulation Page... although it still has no games yet on the new server... and that page still crashes Netscape 4.6 here :/ (source: Dave's)

  • SNEeSe 0.35 is out and even more SPC optimizations, as well as a reset fix are in this version. (source: EmuViews)
